The tongue has taste receptors in certain areas. Most of the taste receptors known as taste buds that are located on the tip, side, middle, and back of the tongue; they are little bumps located on the tongue. The five different tastes are sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. The nose is one of the strongest receptors, it does not go through the hypothalamus, it aides taste through smell.
